Sampled at First Ward on 8-26-24. Pours amber in color. Likely lots of caramel coloring. Aroma is synthetic vanilla and nutmeg. Flavor is also mostly a burnt vanilla, but some ginger and coriander as well. This is by no means a good rum, but is a little bit better than the bottom shelf swill where its neighbors reside.
Any time a rum is about $15 and comes in a 1.75 plastic bottle and is from St. Louis you should not expect too much. I have had much worse bottom shelf rums and I do not think this rum is pretending to be anything but a bottom shelf rum. Really heavy on the vanilla which mutes any other flavors except the harshness when sipped neat. On the rocks everything is toned down a little but not much. It is what it is....a bottom shelf rum. Best thing about this rum is the label and really nice aroma. If you want to just use as a mixer you can do worse.
It's about what you'd expect for such a cheap bottle, but maybe a little bitty tiny smidge better. If your goal is to get drunk fast and cheap, Lady Bligh's your gal.
Another spiced rum? This one with a female version of Captain Morgan and the word โ authenticโ before spiced rum. Thatโs a relief! Because the logo of this female pirate sure isnโt authentic. Is it the spice thatโs authentic or the rum? Pretty sure it isnโt the spice. The rum is drinkable, mixable and forgettable.
Lady Bligh's squarely in that Captain Morgan area of spiced cola mixers, and in that regard it does well. I actually prefer it to Morgan, Sailor Jerry and the rest. It offers notes of toasted marshmallows, a ginger bite, and vanilla all the way through. Very sweet, okay for sipping if you know what to expect.
This is definitely a sweet rum. You can taste the vanilla...maybe honey, caramel, buttery even. Not quite as good as Captain Morgans Private Stock, but definitely a keeper for mixing with coke.
Ouch. Thereโs a reason this rum is so cheap. Not worth it, even with a bunch of coke.
Not terrible for the price. The vanilla is quality enough to make it drinkable.
Big vanilla and good mixed with good with a lime wedge
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The thing I like the most about Lady Bligh is the smooth taste. It has a lighter honey color, and is very good on the rocks or mixed with ginger beer or coke. For the price it is a mainstay in my bar.
