Not too many rum from Belize available around here. In Quebec where the state own SAQ runs the show, I'm quite sure only Plantation offers us some rums from this small Central America country.
This Single cask triple ageing limited edition (ouf!) was released last year and has become back order locally a few months ago.
Tasted a few times, this is quite voluptuous. Not sure if Belize, like neighbouring Guatemala, also produces their rum from sugar cane honey (evaporated vesou/ sugar cane juice) instead of molasses, but the result is a medium body, round mouth feel with some distinctive butterscotch and nuts aromas.
It basically tastes like Cracker Jack, with some subtle vegetable even garden like notes (pumpkin) that must be originating from the Pineau des Charentes cask finish.

Beautiful full amber in the glass.
In the nose, subtle notes of candied fruit and slightly smoky toasted wood.
On the palate a pleasantly warm mouthfeel, very elegant, very well balanced. Caramel, dark chocolate, spices and wood are the dominant flavors.
In the finish wonderfully long, sweet wood, chocolate, ripe fruit ...
A not so sweet Plantation rum, great with friends on the beach ...

This is the only rum from Belize I have in my assortment. I like generally Plantation products and this is among the best one. It is well balanced and fills up your mouth with blasters of different tastes and stay really long time. I loving this on and would say 9,5! I have so far not rate any rum at 10 but this one is close to that. I bought my bottle in Germany! I have bottle 101/450 from Cask 1/6πŸ‘πŸ»Updated to 10! among the bestπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸŽ―

Another very good rum from Plantation. Belizean rum is very good and I like it much better than neighboring Guatemalan rums. Plantation produced a complex and rich rum that captures the smooth sweetness of Belizean rum with some nice complex honey and brown sugar notes. But they completely went off the rails with the finish which adds some heavy Guatemalan wood notes. Likely the Pineau des Charente influence. The finish is not in balance and sort of drops you off a cliff. Still a nice rum.

Although at 41Β° it shows some character and has some sweet finish like some of the Plantation Line. It shows some spiciness and some tropical fruit notes.
A great easy going rhum to start your rum tasting night!

I like this rum a lot. Not quite abuelo centario or zacapa xo but not as expensive either. Interesting wine to choose for barrel storage, but it works really well.

A solid β€œ9”
