Had a rum-tasting at one of my friends and what a surprise : one from Mauritius :
New Grove Savoir Faire Belle Vue with 45% and aged for 15 Years in french oak barrels and special cognac casks.
Nose : hmm really mild. Pinapple and other exotic fruits. Nuts. Simple pleasant.
Palate : in front al lot of wood. Some smoke also. After some seconds in the mouth the fruits come through : apricot, peach, pomace. Light sharp Pepper. Really interesting, never had something like this before.
Finish : medium to long. The light peppery sharpness is still present. Wood. The fruity notes are only secondary. What a pity.
Conclusion : extraordinary special with fast changing impressions between woodiness and fruitiness. Bought this one for 53 € after the tasting. And this price is good for this rum which is really different from all the other rums. The 45 % ABV are a little sharp but not alcoholic. Not sugared, no coloring. Nice, nice ...
