You can smell this from several feet away, the volatiles definitely present, though it doesn't seem particularly funky either in smell or taste.
Instead it has that pot still weirdness and an astringent tang from the casks along with the fruit and brown sugar. The finish is really long and dry and with a bit of petrochemical vibe coming up.
Overalk, it's a bit like Jamaican pot still rum, but without the funk or the complexity. Instead, it's solid and approachable, and unlike many Plantation rums, it's unadulterated too.
