Mount Gay Single Estate Series 23 01 Bn_Qa 5-Year

We traveled to Barbados in April of this year and one of our tours was the Mount Gay Distillery- they issued everyone pink hard hats for the tour.Haha!
Part of the tour includes walking through the molasses building, fermentation and distillation building, and of course a bond house.
When we came back inside to do some tasting, several people purchased this $400.00 bottle and I just happen to be next to them and asked to be included in a small taste - 1/2 ounce maybe is what was served, the tour guide was very nice.
This rum tasted like a combination of all the smells we experienced touring the buildings where the rum making process occurred. Very unexpected, and different.It is good rum, no doubt! If I ever see another bottle, I know I would pause and consider the purchase, but damn it is a lot for a bottle of rum-
I would give this rum a 9 if the price was just a little more affordable . 400 bucks kinda crosses the line for me. I wish I had a more discerning palate to describe better this rum.

Tento Mount Gay pochází z cukrové třtiny, kterou na svých pozemcích začala destilerie pěstovat v roce 2015 (první sklizeň 2016). Jedná se o směs dvou rumů sklizně 2016 a 2017, fermentace trvala 9 dní. Oba zrály v sudech po bourbonu - 2016 po dobu šesti let a 2017 pět let. Sudy byly s nějvětší pravděpodobností z amerického bílého dubu (Quercus Alba).
Ke zrání bylo použito 24 sudů a vyrobeno bylo 4002 lahví.

Aroma: Ovoce (broskve, pomeranče), pikantní vanilka a dřevo, leštěnka na nábytek, decentní zemitost.
Chuť: Decentně technická, hutně dřevitá s vanilkou, zemitá, pálivější.
Dozvuk: Lehce alkoholová vanilka se dřevem, špetka koření a zemitosti. Delší, příjemně hořknoucí s ovocem.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
Rum je to dobrý a chutný. Avšak cenová politika limitek Mount Gay je poslední dobou (jak dokládá i případ této lahve za 400 €) úplně absurdní. Za tu cenu ROZHODNĚ nestojí.
