This is my first introduction into Foursquare ECS. I am not one to follow hype. I have my own opinion, own pallet and my own taste profile. I own some of the best rums and I have high expectations. I am truly surprised with Foursquare 2011. My initial impression was ..Too much bourbon influence. I initially felt I was drinking a great pour of bourbon. I actually prefer it over most of the bourbons I own. That's saying a lot. I had to go back to my old go-to Rums. I had 3 small fours of my go-to's. Deep, dark and complex pours. I then went back to the 2011. It changed my initial opinion. The nose blew me away. I could not put the glass down. The aromas were so beautiful and complex. I smelled an aroma of dark fruits, citrus, burnt caramel, creme brulee and sugar cane. The nose is Amazingly bright. Finally to the pallet.. I now tasted Rum. Not only did I taste Rum, I tasted a bouquet of sweet fruit. I tasted the burnt caramel and brown sugar. I tasted sweet molasses and sugar cane finally came through. It's a Rum/Bourbon bomb. From front, to mid to finish, it's just beautiful. the finish is long and envelope your pallet. The finished glass smells amazing. If you like bourbon, this may replace your best. I have to say.. I just cannot bring myself to understand how this is 120 proof. Surely does not drink like 120. I'm very impressed.

9,4:On the nose we firstly find cinnamon buns😄! When we move forward the is a cooperation between zesty lemon and olive/almondy oil top note that goes through and over delicious caramel with notes of white chocolate, fresh ginger and dried, toasted coconut.
Airing brings toasted wood and fresh, juicy tropical fruits, bourbon fruits like stewed peaches, juicy prunes and some dried fruits as well. Pure deliciousness.... 😋.
9,6:On the palate we are attacked with treacle tart and vanilla ice cream covered with juicy sultanas, tropical fruits like mango and passion fruit, poached bourbony summer fruits and crispy, tender tart plums at the end.We get a little bit of drieness here which is in harmony with fruity sweetness.
9,6:The finish is extraordinary with blueberry, connecting the notes of fresh ginger, black cherry, with a warm finish, lingering drieness and pepper, sweet spice at the end.
If we compare 2010 and 2011, this one is even more rounded, harmonious, complex and very smooth. No afterburn at all, inspite of 60% ABV.

I feel like I’m underrating it relative to everyone else. It’s not extraordinary to me though.

Jésus! Another flavour bomb! Honeycomb, butterscotch, caramel. Savoury tho, so much depth, flavour for miles.

Nearly perfect Barbados rum. No harsh finish, despite the high ABV. Excellent caramel notes, loving the flavor bomb. Not what I expected, but this is a serious step up from the Doorly and R.L. Seale bottlings. I'm excited to try to seek out other Foursquare releases to try after this one.

I think this was the first one we tasted at the distillery. This bottle was nearly wiped out before we were served and it was the last one they had at the bar.
I purchased a bottle at home, very good sipper.
I have tasted several from the ECS series and have liked them all. Some are better than others of course. They can get a little hot for me. I have a few stashed away for a rainy day.
Not sure if my pictures are posting, but the drop image block gives me option to remove file, so I presume it has been loaded- but I don’t see them when I check back later-

Im in Barbados last night, I could not even try this rum at Foursquare today, but The Cliff resteraunt had it for a nice nightcap. Great way to leave Barbados. Not much to add to typical Foursquare nice Bourbon aging for 12 years, very similar to 2009 /10. Solid 9.
