Very nice rum, oak char exists mixed with fruit
After reading all the ratings decided to go out and buy one. I agree with most, a beautiful rum. Just enough sweetness, bit dry and a delicious taste. Very curious about the other brands from Richard Seale. Going to be in my collection!!
This is one of my go to corn n' oil rums. Tastes like I remember the old school Dove Bars tasting, back before they made the chocolate shell all thin and crappy, but way rummier. Balanced vanilla and wood dominates the flavor for me and the aroma is like one of those super expensive shampoos that you get in overwater bungalows in Bora-Bora. Mix 2 ounces with a half ounce of John D Taylor Falernum, a couple of dashes of Angostura bitters and a squeeze of lime to taste. Put on a wide brimmed straw hat.
This make a decent benchmark rum for me because it is pretty near the middle in terms of sweetness-dryness, but high on oak. I'd say it was a fraction over the line towards dryness, but not by much - you get some sweetness in the dried fruit to balance this out. There's also a hint of bourbon and sherry from the casks that are used - you can taste both which is a nice balancing between sweet and dry, with dry just winning.
There not that much on the nose - oak and molasses, but the aftertaste is long and rich and a little bit leathery.
I'll happily drink this but I can't love it the way I do a good Eldorado - it's not just that that isn't as sweet, but also that it isn't as rich and complex. But I do prefer this to the XO - it is smoother and more refined.
Amber, almond, affection. No need to travel to Barbados. Iβm holding it in my glass.
Thanks to RL Seale and Foursquare for a broad range of excellent rums! More mature than the 8-year with deep rich flavor. I prefer rums bordering on single malt scotch undertones. This hits the spot, especially at this price, but I think I will stay with the β8β instead. Thanks also to Total Wine for their broad selection of rums, it is like going to a candy store for adults.
Da, o surpiza placuta, nu aveam mari asteptari de la acest rom relativ ieftin.. Suficient de fin, nu foarte dulce si cu arome subtile.
Classy bottle, lovely mahogany colour, crisp, naturally sweet, nothing added, slight banana, vanilla & oak.
No question of mixing this one, enjoy it as itβs meant to be
Graham.
Having just finished this bottle I have to raise this to a 8, 8.5 if I could.
It just gets better in every way.
Rum as it's meant to be from Foursquare.
Graham.
One of the nicest i've drunk in this price catagory. Sweet, nice scent. Vanilla flavor.
Familiar notes of vanilla and light toffee/caramel.
"An initial hit of sweetness, brown sugar and a little spicy pepper is overtaken by dry oaked flavour and a nice spiced heat. The finish is very smooth and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Strong, not sweet, well balanced. A rum with an intense aroma and a piquant spiciness in the taste. Very full-bodied, little sweetness and a long finish. One of my favs!
