Captain Morgan Black Spiced

Burned cask taste it said on the blurb on the shelf where I bought it and it's true. I rather like that taste and strong spice flavor. Not good on its own but fits well with coke or Dr pepper. I prefer kraken but this one was alright!

A tad sweeter with more pronounced vanilla notes than the original captain but it has a harsh alcohol bite. Good for mixing but probably not "neat".

Yes, this is definitely a dark rum. Tastes a bit like coffee at first. Not really my cup of tea ;) I like the gold one better if compared to something close.

It's a very solid mixer, and not too bad straight either. Like the title says, Captain Morgan's Black Spiced is also a grand alternative to Kraken. Although they share many similar characteristics, Captain has a far better balance than its squiddy counterpart.

I would say this is a nice response to krackens success. Just as nice but with different undertones. Still tastes a bit cheap and strong but great for mixing. Nice with coke not great for sipping.

Its a good option for the Cubas Libres, and normally in the liquor stores in Mexico you can find a promotion when you want to buy it!

The first one can be a little harsh neat, but the second is easier. Vanilla taste great with Coke or Diet Coke. My go to mixer for company.
