Expected more from Don Papa… don’t feel there is a good balance between the rye and the sweetness. Too much rye on the nose and palate.
Heavy rye nose, more than other rye aged rums ive tried (grander rye finish, etc) overpowering, smokey and watered down slight burn not much taste. Warmth in the chest after a few seconds. Might as well drink whiskey barely any rum flavors
7 :The nose has nice smoky notes, with a strong whisky edge. One can easily imagine a fire where a handful of cereals are being toasted, while one takes a whiff of the heather-laden air.
On aeration, a little farmyard character develops, with straw and a slight organic touch. Then the rum enters a more familiar framework, made of spicy wood, a layer of black and red fruits with a little tannin, and a little resinous and vegetal vivacity, some glue.
8: The mouth is quite powerful, despite a relatively round texture. The most farmy notes are the first to touch the taste buds, then it's around the woody and toasted cereals. Some caramel note. Yep, some panceta. The whisky aspect remains in mind, notably thanks to the white woody notes mixed with resin, cherry, and pears even dried figs.
7,5:The finish returns to slightly oily and smoky notes, even bit oaky.A little sour aftertaste, but positively.
Totally different than Don papa Masskara, Small Batch!Well, I like it.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The rye taste is very much there, rum taste not so much. Wouldn’t buy a bottle - but wouldn’t turn down a free glass
