Got a sample of this extremely old rum from Andy at RumRatings.
It’s a blend of pot still and column still rum bottled at cask strength, but as low as ABV 45.1%.
The nose is fruity and complex with aromas of mango, apple, banana with some tobacco notes.
After some breathing aromas of nuts, wood and leather shows up.
At the palate it shows up an enormous complexity with esters, wood and fruity notes.
The long finish is dry and smoky with tastes of tobacco and leather.
Overall a very recommendable and complex rum which I was fortunate to taste thanks to Andy Shannon.
