This Rumclub bottling comes from Brazil and is a blend of 20% molasses and 80% sugar cane juice rums, which were distilled in 2011. The rum was allowed to be stored tropically in Amburana wood for 6 years and then another 6 years continentally in classic oak barrels. The rum was bottled with a cask strength of 54.5% alcohol without additives or filtration as a single cask in 354 50cl bottles.
The rum has a very unique spicy nose. The alcohol is present for the time being. Lots of wood, spice with vanilla and cinnamon. Reminiscent of cinnamon rolls. In addition, a fruity citrus note. The rum is rusty and if it is allowed to breathe for at least 30 minutes it becomes more floral and reminiscent of perfume with violets and pastries. An exciting, very complex nose. On the palate, the rum again has a lot of barrel influence. Again, a lot of wood with a clear cinnamon note, vanilla and pepper. In addition, roasted aromas and a floral note. The whole thing is dry with a certain residual sharpness. The finish is still woody, dry and peppery.
It's an exciting rum because it's simply different and has a high degree of complexity. At the same time, however, it is also angular and the influence of wood is very high. You have to like that. The nose is a feast, on the palate the barrel has eaten up the rum. Should definitely be allowed to breathe. A successful experiment that brings variety, but is not necessarily suitable for everyday life.
Erinnert an Zimtschnecken.
