The Rumclub bottling is Edition 17 and includes a rum from the Hampden distillery in Jamaica. The rum was distilled in 2001 in pot style and bears the mark <>H. This makes it a high ester rum. The rum was allowed to mature continental for 19 years and was bottled with a cask strength of 58% alcohol without additives or filtration as a single cask in 188 50cl bottles.
The rum has a great Hampden nose. Tropical fruit with overripe banana, some pineapple, vanilla and glue. The barrel brings caramel notes and some nut. The whole thing is funky and intense. On the palate, the aromas of overripe banana, tropical fruit with esters, spicy vanilla, burnt sugar and a beautiful woody influence are repeated. The rum is full-bodied and strong. The finish is pleasantly dry, woodier with vanilla, esters and fermented fruit.
A very tasty Hampden and the ester content is very balanced. The continental maturation provides a nice balance between wood and ester. I really like it. He is already strong and quite direct. A couple of years more in the cask could round off the whole thing a bit. Overall, absolutely great Jamaica rum.

Der Rum hat eine tolle Hampden Nase. Tropische Frucht mit überreifer Banane, etwas Ananas und Vanille. Dazu Klebstoff. Das Fass bringt Karamel Noten und etwas Nuss. Das ganze ist funky und schön intensiv. Am Gaumen wiederholen sich die Aromen von überreifer Banane, tropischer Frucht mit Ester, würziger Vanille, gebranntem Zucker und einem schönen Holzeinfluss. Der Rum ist vollmundig und kräftig. Der Abgang ist angenehm Trocken, holziger mit Vanille, Ester und vergorener Frucht.
Ein sehr leckerer Hampden und der Ester Gehalt ist sehr ausgewogen. Die kontinentale Reifung sorgt für eine schöne Balance zwischen Holz und Ester. Gefällt mir richtig gut. Er ist schon kräftig und durchaus direkt. Ein zwei Jahre mehr im Fass könnten das ganze noch etwas abrunden. Insgesamt absolut toller Jamaica Rum.
