Fijian rums from 2002 are not the most common (so far I tasted quite a lot of 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2009's). This one is said to be pot still distilled but it is not as "heavy" as the others. I mean it is not an ester-bomb with the usual load of fruits, solvants, waxy and medicinal smells that are so typical from the heavy fijian rums. It is more on the rounded side, the bourbon cask seems to have influenced the distillate a lot. More wood, more sweetness, more vanilla. Not bad by any way but not what I a was hoping for. A fijian for those who not like fijians, I would say.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tobacco on the nose, leather taste with a quick peppery bourbon burn on the finish. Like a burnt el dorado with a bitter ending and overproof abv. Much smoother than i’d expect a 65%abv to be
