Isautier 2005 Velier 16-Year

This bottling of Velier is a 16-year-old tropical Agricole from the Isautier distillery on Reunion. It was made in 2005 from fresh sugar cane in column style. The bottling is a blend of two barrels and there are 502 bottles. It was bottled without additives or filtration with a cask strength of 65% alcohol.

The nose is just fantastic and super complex. Beautiful fresh fruit with peach and apricot. In addition, vegetal notes with some grass and fresh tea. But also seasoning with cocoa and sweetness of toffee. At the same time, the rhum shows a nice freshness with citrus fruits and a subtle Ice tea note. An intense, powerful and complex nose. On the palate, the rhum remains complex with toasted aromas, a medicinal note, fruit, and vegetal agricole notes. Served with brown sugar and black tea. There's a lot going on here. The finish is warmer with peach, roasted aromas and more bitter substances. Here, too, it has a medicinal effect and more wood influence with mocha and dark chocolate comes through. The rhum becomes drier and full-bodied.

The 16 years tropical storage gives the rhum a very full body and the blend of fruit and wood influence is perfect. A very complex Agricole that has not lost its freshness in the barrel. Absolutely great, delicious drop. One of the best Agricole I've had in my glass so far. Perfection.

Diese Abfüllung von Velier ist ein 16 Jahre tropisch gelagerte Agricole aus der Isautier Distillerie auf Reunion. Er wurde 2005 aus frischem Zuckerrohr im Column Style hergestellt. Die Abfüllung ist ein Blend aus zwei Fässern und es gibt 502 Flaschen. Er wurde ohne Zusatzstoffe oder Filtration mit einer Fassstärke von 65% Alkohol abgefüllt.

Die Nase ist einfach fantastisch und super komplex. Schöne frische Frucht mit Pfirsich und Aprikose. Dazu pflanzliche Noten mit etwas Gras und frischen Tee. Aber auch Würze mit Kakao und Süße von Toffee. Dabei zeigt der Rhum eine schöne Frische mit Zitrusfrüchten und einer subtilen Eistew Note. Eine intensive, kräftige und komplexe Nase. Am Gaumen bleibt der Rhum komplex mit Röstaromen, einer medizinischen Note, Frucht, und pflanzlichen Agricole Noten. Dazu brauner Zucker und Schwarztee. Hier passiert ganz viel. Der Abgang wird wärmer mit Pfirsich, Röstaromen und mehr Bitterstoffen. Auch hier wirkt er medizinisch und mehr Holzeinfluss mit Mokka und dunkler Schokolade kommt durch. Der Rhum wird trockener und vollmundig.

Die 16 Jahre tropische Lagerung geben dem Rhum einen sehr vollen Körper und die Mischung aus Frucht und Holzeinfluss ist perfekt. Ein sehr komplexer Agricole der seine Frische im Fass nicht verloren hat. Absolut toller, leckerer Tropfen. Mit der beste Agricole den ich bisher im Glas hatte. Perfektion.
