Rumclub Private Selection 2009 Hampden DOK 12-Year

This bottling from the rum club comes from Jamaica and was produced in 2009 at the Hampden Distillery. The rum bears the Mark DOK and has the highest ester content of the distillery with 1400-1600gr/hlpa. The rum was bottled as a single cask in 433 50cl bottles in 2022 after 1 year of tropical and 11 years of continental aging with a cask strength of 58.2% alcohol without additives or filtration.

On the nose, the rum shows intense tropical fruits with banana and fermented aromas. Served with vanilla and marshmallow and candied fruit. Beautiful ester notes with glue make the nose funky, strong, intense and delicious. On the palate, the rum is surprisingly balanced with medicinal notes, esters, overripe fruit and smoke. Oh get pineapple and also nice barrel notes with cocoa. The rum is creamy but also a bit rough and is funky, strong and intense. The finish shows more smoky barrel notes, fermented tropical fruits and esters. Add some lime. The rum is dry and astringent.

An extraordinarily delicious Hampden and I am looking forward to the direct comparison with the other 2009 DOK bottlings. The rum is still intense, but not as brutal as expected. The barrel influence slowly increases and makes the profile pleasantly round.

Diese Abfüllung vom Rumclub kommt aus Jamaika und wurde 2009 in der Hampden Distillerie hergestellt. Der Rum trägt das Mark DOK und hat mit 1400-1600gr/hlpa den höchsten Ester Gehalt der Distillerie. Der Rum wurde 2022 nach 1 Jahr tropische und 11 Jahren kontinentaler Reifung mit einer Fassstärke von 58,2% Alkohol ohne Zusatzstoffe oder Filtration als Single Cask in 433 50cl Flaschen abgefüllt.

In der Nase zeigt der Rum intensive tropische Früchte mit Banane und vergorenen Aromen. Dazu Vanille und Marshmallow und kandierten Früchten. Schöne Ester Noten mit Klebstoff machen die Nase funky, kräftig, intensiv und lecker. Am Gaumen zeigt der Rum sich erstaunlich ausbalanciert mit medizinischen Noten, Ester, überreifen Früchten und Rauch. Och bekomme Ananas und auch schöne Fassnoten mit Kakao. Der Rum ist cremig aber auch etwas rau und zeigt sich auch hier funky, kräftig und intensiv. Der Abgang zeigt mehr rauchige Fassnoten, vergorene tropische Früchte und Ester. Dazu etwas Limette. Der Rum zeigt sich trocken und adstringend.

Ein außerordentlich leckerer Hampden und ich freue mich auf den direkten Vergleich mit den anderen 2009 DOK Abfüllungen. Der Rum wirkt immer noch intensiv aber nicht so brachial wie erwartet. Der Fasseinfluss wird langsam größer und macht das Profil angenehm Rund.

Al naso è super funky con tanti esteri, formaggio stagionato, agrumi, ananas e un po' di colla.
Al palato permane il funky con gli esteri, c'è qualche nota affumicata/arrostita, frutti tropicali, buccia di agrumi e una punta di dolcezza fa da sfondo. Finale medio con qualche retrogusto legnoso.
Tutto abbastanza rotondo e con un abv perfettamente integrato. Interessante.
