I find this amazingly fruity but in an unrefined way. It is not super easy to drink. I somewhat like it though.
Boozy aroma, which to be fair belies the first sip which is smooth and fruity, big alcohol burn builds afterwards, softening to a warming aftertaste
If Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva had a whisky variant this would be it. From the smell to taste I experience my favorite rum, however when it goes down then I taste a light smokeyness I get from a whisky.
It is too expensive for what the rum does in my opinion.
8,1:On the nose, it is balanced, the different aromas complementing each other beautifully. Raisins, honey, banana, a fine woodiness as well as light notes of orange make up its profile. The whole thing is dry.
8:On the palate the balance is also present since the alcohol is well dosed. Orange dominates here and light notes of banana, peach, caramel appear. Smooth it is.
8:The finish is relatively long. It is wooded and dry (increasingly so). After a moment, light tobacco notes appear.
No It is not worth it. sorry. It is a quality rum but the taste is inferior to other rums. for almost haf the price one can find better
IWSC 2023 Gold 95 points 46% ABV from one of the most respected rum producers in the world.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I like this rum. I ordered it online in Switzerland to drink it during Christmas and new years eve holidays.
It is a typical powerful rum from Foursquare (one of my favorite distilleries). On the dry side, though with some hints of sweetness hidden behind the first strong sip. In the nose I mostly feel licorice. Taste wise I only pick up some woodiness, the 46% ABV is very present. Fine also with a few drops of water, makes it more accessible for the less initiated. A perfectly good rum to sip with Santa after a plentiful Christmas banquet. Not sure it's worth the money, though, 79chf for the bottle at the foot of the Swiss alps... ho ho ho.
