This rum comes from the since year 2000 closed Uitvlugt Distillery and the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still which today is moved to the Diamond Distillery, the only distillery in Guyana nowadays.
It was distilled in 1997 and was first tropical aged for 2 years in an former bourbon barrel whereafter it was continentally aged for 21 years in an former cognac barrel. Finally it was bottled in 2022 in 262 bottles at 53,4%.
The aromas is round, fruity, woody and spicy with hints of leather and grapefruit.
In mouth and at palate the aromas comes back as tastes and the grapefruit taste dominate, but it’s also sweet and elegant.
The medium long finish is dry, woody and round with a taste of grapefruit.
Overall an elegant and round rum where the taste of grapefruit dominates.
