The Aldi rum in Germany. I assume that their is a lot of batch variation with this one too, like with the Lidl one (James Cook).

Colour is golden and irrelevant, because it is surely coloured. But, to the credit of the producer, not too much so.

Nose is slightly alcoholic, a bit of plastic, a bit of funk (which is nice!), spices (mostly nutmeg). Not bad, if a bit alcoholic.

On the palate it is semi-sweet, not overly sweet (which is good), a bit funky, a hint of spices (nutmeg?). A bit too much alcohol in the taste, but no terrible bite either. Fading out, spices and a hint of funk linger on. Not offensive, but enough to keep me from being bored.

Competent, not really recommended as a sipper. Although it is OK with ice.

Works great in hot drinks, like hot grog and gunfire.

With cola and lemon or lime, it works extremely good. I cannot imagine anyone complaining about a rum cola mixed with this. Light years ahead of Bacardi or Captain Morgan.

I have yet to try it in more challenging mixes and cocktails, but I am confident that it will work OK.

I give this 4/10, which might seem generous, but then again might seem harsh, considering the price point. As a mixer for drinks where the rum is not the main player and for rum cola, this is great. As a budget rum: Great stuff.

It was gift from my mother in law. So bad and disgusting rum, just for baking. Please even do not try it. :)

I think it's not bad at all. Compared with others in the price bracket, Silverstone Is preferable for me. The bottle is ugly. I like the 54% variety even better.

You can't know the taste if you don't try it. And I decided to try. It's quite inexpensive. And - yes, it turned out to be inexpensive in smell and taste. Color golden, straw. I uncorked the bottle... I don't understand, it doesn't smell! He put his nose in the neck of the bottle. Well, the smell of alcohol, essences. If you inhale for a long time, you will smell the rum. I pour into a glass. So the smell is more distinct. But is this what real rum should smell like? Taste. I think it's alcohol and pepper. It is very, very far from clear what kind of fruit, cloves. Burning taste of pepper and alcohol. The taste passes quickly, alcohol remains and it is no longer pepper, but something chemical. After a while, only chemistry. This drink can be used for rum gingerbread and cookies. There it will be noticeable a little with a very clear rum aroma. But I found a use for this rum, I add it to strong black tea. Then I get a rum flavor, but it's like an artificial essence, although the tea tastes nice and warming. It's probably just for a mix of drinks. Just pour from a bottle into a glass and drink, it's no pleasure, just a hit in the head and a wrinkled face from the synthetic taste. Let it stand on the shelf, don't throw it away.
