7,5:On the nose, we are attacked with wild herbs, like Ricola candies, some mint, dark chocolate, some caramelized roasted nuts, coffee and wood, resin with dried currants, fruit compote and dried fruits. Aeration brings out some tobacco, licorice is still strong, underneath weak tropical fruits try to make some mark, but after some real rest, herbs go weaker, rum becomes more roasted, medicinal, perhaps even floral and woody.
7,5:On the palate, we have wild herbs mixed with chocolate, cocoa, licorice candy, resin, mint, bitter orange, some wood and peppery, juniper, dried currants, hints of dried fruits and metallic note, leather.
7,6:The finish is dry, fresh, minty, spicy, quite long with some caramel, roasted notes, cocoa and coffee.

This rum Artesanal bottling comes from Venezuela from the CADC distillery. The rum was made in column style in 2005 and was allowed to mature for 17 years. With a cask strength of 57.8%, the rum was bottled as a single cask without additives or filtration.

In the nose, the rum shows directly that things are not quite normal here. I immediately have strong notes of aniseed, sal ammoniac and lots of herbs on the nose. this is very reminiscent of a medical syrup against coughing. The whole thing is very medical with some fruit and wood. The nose is confirmed on the palate with lots of herbs, aniseed and liquorice. In addition, a sour undertone and the feeling of drinking a high-proof medicine.

I was able to try the rum at a trade fair and was surprised but also fascinated when I drank it, especially since you can talk directly with the great people at Artesanal. Honestly, I don't want to drink this rum at home because it's far too reminiscent of medicine or herbal liquor. Just too much for me. But i cannot deny that the rum conveys the aromas intensively and in a balanced way. As a Sample in a tasting it will work very fine to show the range of rum. Not a bad rum, just not my taste for everyday drinking.
