As my colleague has already wrote a trivia earlier i'll just be brief here; a very limited (95 pcs) Ferroni / De Roany co-op rum with sophisticated triple ageing, finished when roaming on the Atlantic - probably in very small barrell as very dark and the palate speaks for itself. Rum of Australian origin, which is overall pretty good combination for "Ferroni handwriting".
Purchased this rum from Mr. De Roany rum collection itself - big thanks! Love these lovely indie starters!
Color: chestnut, very dark. Even suspiciously dark, if you ask me (no reason to worry here).
Nose: charred wood, bbq, fruity, roasted, smoke. Probably either very small barrell or charred barrell ageing at some stage.
Palate: feel stronger than it is (which is a pro). Given the limitness probably "brut de fût" (not necessarily). The palate is initially fruity and sweet but the finish is definitely dry. Otherwise palate just copies the nose (+ small cocoa? chocolate? coffee? tobacco? hints).
There is some typical Ferroni sourness in the body (which I don't so much like if too palpable and usually downgrade the final rating, eg. my Ferroni Canaries rating). It is kind of his handrwriting; some casks like Canaries 15y (similarly black) have oodles of it, while some lack it at all (Tasty Overproof, Foursquare style). I honestly don't know what is the reason but it is interesting.
Overall very good rum - relatively unique, rare, with intriguing story and background. Thanks guys!

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum from the Beenleigh distillery in Australia is a release coming out of a collaboration between Ferroni and Guillaume de Roany.
It has benefited from 3 stages of aging:
First 3 years in Bourbon barrels on site in Australia
Secondly 14 months additional ageing in Beaumes de Venise Muscat barrels
Third and final a ageing in small 50-litre Pedro Ximenez sherry casks during a round trip between France and the Caribbean.
After the aging it’s bottled in just 95 bottles.
The nose is woody, fruity and sweet with a roasted profile. I recognize marzipan, chocolate and cherry.
At the palate it’s very tasty, mostly fruity, with a certain sweetness and thickness.
The finish is long and woody with tastes of fruits and vanilla.
Overall a very tasty, smooth and elegant rum.
