This is a good rum, not fantastic, not bad at all. It's very easy to drink and has a good flavor, good alcohol burn, and good after taste. It's good, not great.
I had this the first time in the BVI. I am hooked. Very smooth. My favorite so far.
Great aroma. Lots of flavor. Definitely taste the aging. Lingers on the palate. I'll be saving for special occasions.
1888 doblemente aneado is worth its price, fine and gentle. Color is dark amber, bottle is charming.
- smell: initially robust, quickly turns in caramel and vanilla, jasmine flowers, orange honey
- taste: delicate, balanced, sweet but not too much, again caramel but a little smoky like cigar, species and ginger, so light you will drink glass after glass
- Finale: soft and quickly vanishing, fruity, balanced and sweet
This bottle has a lovely presentation. And it's not a bad rum, but it just didn't have enough flavor to match many other rums at this price point. It's really a 6.5, just missing out on a 7.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Before this, I knew only of Bacardi and Myers. It was a revelation and one that has stood the test of time. A candidate for the best aged Spanish rum—up there with Santa Teresa 1796.
