Beautiful rich amber in the glass.
In the nose soft and deep. Freshly baked chocolate rolls tossed in vanilla sugar and finished with a touch of cardamom and cinnamon. Accompanied by a wooden bowl full of delicious compote in from pears, plums, red berries, some rhubarb and a crumb of resin. A light caramel sauce rounds it out exquisitely.
The palate is rich and robust. The rolls are filled with delicate caramel and create a comforting mouthfeel. The crushed fruit slowly glides over the already indulged tongue and caresses the taste buds. The toasted spices, resins, tannins, cocoa beans and wood notes keep ghostly popping up in between.
The finish is long and dry. Spices and wood leave the show first, fruits follow later, the caramel stays until the end and left behind is some resin on the tongue.
A great rum, nice and round yet character. For beginners, advanced and connoisseurs. 8+
Intense ripe sweetness. Kind of like hot chocolate with pineapple. A very pleasant drink.
This is a good sipping rum, starts a bit "medicinal" with an astringent taste but it mellows as it goes down. I've taken a few months to go through this bottle and each time I'm expecting it to be sweeter, but I'm accepting of the different taste that this rum presents. Worthy of a 7 but can't see giving it more.
It's tasty, relatively smooth, nice amber colour, but simply not deep enough and rich enough for me.
Tasted at Mitch e Amaro during Lei Away in North KC September 1 2023
Appearance: amber
Aroma: butter.
Flavor: I don't understand this rum. Perhaps it's because the flavor and aroma don't seem to match. For flavor I'm getting funk, gunpowder, a whiff of the sordid history of colonization and. It much hope.
I do think people who enjoy this type of flavor profile will be quite satisfied.
A bit astringent off the hop. Turning into an oaken liquorice with vegetative overtones that I'm not used to from a Demerara. Smells of white grapes and acetone. Goes down but would prefer a deeper molasses theme as opposed to something so feisty.

Very nice blonde rum. Taste is flower(ish) with little bit of almonds. Very smooth and longstanding fine taste in mouth.

Tasted at the Lei Low rum tasting #1 on 9-1-23. Deep gold color. Mild molasses aroma. Flavor is the best part. Medicinal bitterness smooths into a burned brown sugar delight. Sulfurous. Classic lidocaine finish that numbs in a pleasant way. Good stuff.
