The Flensburg JMM is a rum from the Monymusk Distillery in Jamaica, which was produced in pot style in 2007 and was allowed to store on the continent for 13 years. The rum was bottled at a cask strength of 62.5% alcohol without additives as a single cask with 209 bottles.
The nose is very intense and the rum should be allowed to breathe for at least 30 minutes. The rum shows aromas of varnish and polish. There is also a lot of spice and fruit. The rum is fresh with some citrus. The nose should not be stuck too deep in the glass, because the alcohol works clearly. On the palate, the rum is very strong and sharp-edged. Here comes the polish again, fermented fruit, distinct spice with lots of pepper and toasted wood. There is also a nice menthol note. Towards the end, the polish and the spice remain and the rum becomes somewhat bitter and metallic.
This rum is for experienced rum lovers as it is very direct, edgy and sharp. If you can handle it, you get a very spicy Jamaican rum with a great polish note, menthol and ester. Can also be diluted a little.

Die Nase ist sehr intensiv und der Rum sollte mindestens 30 Minuten atmen können. Der Rum zeigt Aromen von Lack und Politur. Es gibt auch viel Gewürz und Frucht. Der Rum ist frisch mit etwas Zitrus. Die Nase sollte nicht zu tief in das Glas gesteckt werden, da der Alkohol deutlich wirkt. Am Gaumen ist der Rum sehr kräftig und scharfkantig. Hier kommt wieder die Politur, fermentierte Frucht, deutliche Würze mit viel Pfeffer und geröstetem Holz. Dazu kommt eine schöne Mentholnote. Gegen Ende bleiben die Politur und die Würze zurück und der Rum wird etwas bitter und metallisch.
Dieser Rum ist für erfahrene Rumliebhaber, da er sehr direkt, kantig und scharf ist. Wer damit umgehen kann, bekommt einen sehr würzigen Jamaika-Rum mit toller Politur-Note, Menthol und Ester. Kann auch etwas verdünnt werden.
