PLEASE Captain Morgan...looks as if I'm not alone....been looking everywhere for more of this! Please make this blend again!!?
This is one which a truly enjoyed and have been looking for ever since. The best spiced rum I've had. Tastes like a good rum with spicy flavors that don't taste artificial as most spiced rums do. Just wish I could find more of it as it is no longer sold in my province.
My wife and I found this on clearance at a neighborhood liquor store for $9.99. Sure, we'll try it. We opened it up and couldn't believe how much we liked it. We've been looking ever since, and haven't been able to find it anywhere.
This one I can actually enjoy neat, but where it belongs is as a base for mixed drinks where it absolutely shines.
Goes rally well with coke. Love the vanilla tones in the finish. Hope they start making it again.
First off ....I saw the reviews here and was intrigued because it scored pretty well. I believe this was a limited release in 2014 ? I’ve not seen it available anywhere ....until
today ...at a mom n pop liquor store I happened to drop in to. Likely sitting in the shelve for a few years.
I bought all three bottles - they were only $19 each.
The nose on Captain Morgan 1671 is sweet with vanilla, cherry and ginger, some almond, molasses, chocolate, nutmeg, black pepper, and oak. It’s a nice collection of aromas that is similar to Dr. Pepper. Sweet but not artificially so. The spice ramps up in the mid with clove, black pepper, ginger, and oak with vanilla and chocolate. The finish is decent and tastes a bit like vanilla.
Can absolutely be sipped neat. Also tasty with some Coke.
Another limited edition gone forever. A few bottles still can be found online, but long gone from store shelves. Although I did not like this as much as Captains sherry oak finish it still deserves mention. A robust flavor and smooth finish. Worth a try if you can find some.
I know captain gets a bad rap but consider its purpose. This version is very good. There is a hit of alcohol but doesn’t stay long. Initially you get a nice sweet caramel flavor with similar smell to the nose. I sipped it and tried with coke. Prefer on rocks by itself. Has good chart
I couldn’t help but detect chocolate and coffee. I don’t like coffee and don’t want my rum and coke to taste like bad chocolate.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is a surprisingly elegant offering from a brand I associate with keg stands on the beach in panama city fl. Lots of not so subtle flavors and sweet finish. This does fine sipped on its own or mixed. Price seems to vary greatly. Would not pay top dollar for this one but definitely pleasantly surprised.
