Väldigt god inte för söt och smakrik rom. Ingen spritsmak och det passar mig väldigt väl.
enjoyed this at a tasting and was surprised. nice smell going in but confusing. there is a smell that is stumping me....is it tea? taste hits on all cylinders as it is so complex. it has a thicker mouth feel than expected and the burn is very pleasant but quickly is only left on the tongue. Had a case of sticker shock when I looked at the price (out of curiosity) on the shelf. Not quite
as good as the Panamanian Ron Abuelo Cask finish offerings which are, in my opinion, far superior at about the same price - especially the Port and Cognac Casks! Cheers
40%ABV rum from Panama, aged for 18 years in bourbon and sherry casks. It is a classic Spanish-style molasses rum distilled on a column still.
Bottle: New type of square shape.
Colour: Dark amber.
Nose: Sweet wine, vanilla, raisins, honey, candied orange and woody oak notes.
Taste: Pleasant, sweet but a little watery with a slight burn on the tongue. There is possible to recognize elderberry juice, honey, dark chocolate, raisins, pepper, tangerine, cola and a slight bitterness from the wood.
Aftertaste: Short to medium.
Finish: A good sweet rum for easy evening sipping. It is good, but lacks more flavour variety.
Rating: 7.5/10
Rum nation has brought Panamanian rums back up to the forefront of central american rums (my favourite terroir). Smells of honey. Tastes of plum, leather and light oak. Smooth with a dry finish. Perfect sipper. Fancy bottle to boot, but the price is a bit steep.
Good flavours nice an smooth. Mellow and sweet. Not harsh at all.
Basically a nice and cute, smooth rum, nothing wrong with it. Lot of honey, sweetness and hint of wood (probably oak) in the background. Both palate and finish are nice here. The finish is little drier, darker but not overly spicy which I really hate (spiceness) on mediocre Spanish style rums.
No way exceptional as there is buttloads of similar style rums where Panama 18yo is, IMO, arguably among the better samples.
A good vitrine-type choice and eye-candy and cool, broadly acceptable drink for everyone but nothing to impress advanced drinkers or even weird-rum lovers.
Will never re-purchase this rum as no reason but easily finish the one (and last) bottle.
A weak 7/10 but with negative bias growing to this rum style, probably recommendable to sweet, bourbon style rum lovers (yet this is not close to elixirs).
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Beautiful bright mahogany-colored amber in the glass.
Subtle and mysterious on the nose. Dark roasted cocoa and coffee beans lie in an old dark wooden barrel, dark burnt caramel spreads a pleasant scent. Dark fruits can be perceived at the edge of the darkness, a green glowing refreshing herb shows the way.
Mild and sweet on the palate. A lot of caramel floods the tongue and leaves hardly any room for the other aromas. Chocolate, wood and all the fruit are only just discernible.
The finish is long and dry. Fruit and wood play almost no role and the caramel also fades quickly, leaving something bitter behind.
A somewhat ordinary, unspectacular but not bad rum that is sure to find its friends. For sweet rum lovers, beginners and explorers. 7+
