Heffron Premium 10-Year

Smells and tastes better than 5YO. Also much darker color than 5YO.

Good, a little bit sweet, floral, light and fruity. Surprisingly good for czech rum. I got it as a gift from my brother and I am glad I could try it. Nice stuff.

When i tasted it for the first time, right after i opened the bottle, i was little disappointed. This is ten years old stuff? But this rum started to breathe and every next tasting was better and better. Color is nicely dark and after some days of "wethering" is taste rich and complex. This is still very cheap rum so i can recommend it for daily use :-)

Niekde som to dostal pod nos zvyknuty na klasicky heffron som ocakaval obligatne kopanie od liehu a stiplave chute. Ale ked som ochutnal toto tak, jak to skomentoval dalsi chalanisko "a teraz tu cokoladu k tej sladkosti".
Samozrejme je citit ze je dosladzovany a dofarbovany, ale aspon je to nejaky karamel.

Chuť: Pikantní, do čokolády a lékořice, pěkné, uhlazené a vyzrálé dřevo, kakao. Příjemně nasládlý, krémový, v dochuti hodně kakaa a čokolády. (87 b)

Shrnutí: Povedený rum za rozumnou cenu, když je v akci.

Casks influence is there, they can be tasted. Overall still weak as any other products. Maybe for that price as starter pack rum good enough, but i can find rums in same price range, that can knock your socks off.

This rum burns like hell. The taste is strong and spicy. Just a little improvement from regular Heffron. (if any at all)

As whole, the Heffron Rums are great, if you dont want to spend too much.

It is a good low price rum.

The nose is butterscotch, nuts and varnish, the taste starts with sweet toffee, honey, then comes slightly spicy mid palate with lasting sense of butter, the aftertaste is mild, slightly spicy, with butter, nutts and toffee. Overall, the rum si pleasant, smooth, but simple. It reminds me of Cacique Anejo and Santa Teresa Anejo and overall it is far from what I understand as typical Panama taste, which always contains tobacco and wood in varying proportions. I guess the the rum contains 20gpl of sugar or some artificial sweetener. Not bad for the money, but far from unforgettable.

It might be a good started for rum beginners.. There is a significant improvement from the younger "heffron brothers". But comparing to a real Caribbean rums.. this one is still not there. Strong smell and taste of caramel and sugar. That is it.. Maybe a pit of wood hidden in the background.. So I would recommend to mix it with
