At the Laka Lono Rum Tasting on 9-27-23. Pours a very light gold color. Initial aroma was airplane glue or toluene. Harsh hot palate. However, after a few drops of water, this Mr. Hyde turned into a much more pleasant Dr. Jekyll. Straw and biscuit flavors and a bit of cotton candy to the scent. Cinnamon rolls right out of the oven. I’ve never had a rum this bipolar before. Foursquare on top of wild turkey? Anything goes.
Tasted September 27 2023 at Laka Lono during Kill Devil rum club
Appearance: light gold
Aroma: dreamsicle
Flavor: pepper, clementine, ginger
I think I like this because of my personal positive history with Wild Turkey while an undergraduate ❤️🦃
Hot tip: be sure to add a few drops of water to this while sipping
First impression was strong alcohol smell. After the sip, it was strong and definitely had a pepper burn and grabs your breath away. I tried a few more sips and wondered if I could take it back to the store as it tasted more like cheap rum with a high octane. Definitely not worth the price and now it will be used to make mixed drinks. I was unimpressed and I have about 60 different bottles of rum that I will take over this bottle.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The gents at Rolling Fork Spirits did great job with this foursquare distilled rum. It has a really great flavor profile from the ex-brandy barrel that it spent part of its aging in.
On the nose I got a little bit of acetone, followed by molasses, caramel, citrus notes, brown sugar, cake batter, and a slight hint of what can only be described as a bit of funk. On the pallet I found molasses, pepper, vanilla, cinnamon, crisp apple, and juicy fruitiness. The finish was a medium length with primarily tobacco, earthiness, a nice oiliness, and dryness.
Definitely worth the price and buying again. I’m looking forward to trying some of there other bottlings.
