The Nectar of the daily Drams 15th Anniversary is a rum from the Rum Co. of Fiji Distillery. The rum was allowed to be stored for 12 years and was then bottled in 2021 in cask strength of 64.6% alcohol without additives or filtration.

The rum is very present in the nose without being aggressive. Clear ester notes, with adhesive and solvent are perceptible. The fruit here is less fermented, but fresher. The rum also has some wood and shows a lively, cheeky complex nose with corners and edges. On the palate, the rum is intense. The alcohol sets in perfectly. Spreads the aromas in a multi-layered way. Those who do not expect it will be overwhelmed. This rum has funk. A fresh fruit pairs with a slight spicy sweetness, some wood and a pleasant mint. There is a lot going on here and to discover. De Rum is lively and changes with every sip. The finish is characterized by oak, some spice and mint.

A great lively rum with funk, which demands and wants attention. No rum for beginners. But he also has rough edges to tell. A fantastic rum and with the RA Fiji very high among the best rums I have drunk so far and especially here i have to pay under 100 euros.

Der Rum ist in der Nase sehr präsent ohne aggressiv zu sein. Deutliche Ester Noten, mit Klebstoff und Lösungsmittel sind wahrnehmbar. Die Frucht ist hier weniger vergoren, sondern frischer. Der Rum hat auch etwas Holz und zeigt eine lebendige, freche complexe Nase mit Ecken und Kanten. Am Gaumen ist der Rum intensiv. Der Alkohol setzt perfekt ein. Verbreitet die Aromen vielschichtig. Wer es nicht erwartet wird überwältigt. Dieser Rum hat Funk. Eine frische Frucht paart sich mit einer leichten würzigen Süße, etwas Holz und einer angenehmen Minze. Hier ist viel los und zu entdecken. De Rum ist lebhaft und verändert sich bei jedem Schluck. Der Abgang ist durch Eiche, etwas Würze und Minze geprägt.

Ein toller lebhafter Rum mit Funk, welcher fordert und Aufmerksamkeit will. Kein Rum für Anfänger. Er hat Ecken und Kanten aber auch eine Geschichte zu erzählen. Ein fantastischer Rum und mit dem RA Fiji ganz weit oben unter den besten Rums die ich bisher getrunken habe und vor allem unter 100Euro bezahlen muss.

Nice rest brings out new herbal notes, is a bit waxy now, with latex, going to roasted territory, charred and a bit iodized, metallic and smoky, citrusy.
8,6:On the palate, we are attacked with spiciness(ginger, green pepper) and tropical fruits, tea, hay, is very intense, a bit roasted, mineral. The fruits are fermented, stewed. Pastry notes are tasty. Green apple and yeast are intertwined, joined with toasted bread.The rum is balanced and harmonious now. Rest is welcome, as sweet wine notes arise, going towards vegetal and herbal, there is some licorice, becomes salty later.
Tasty gingerbread jumps into the notes theatre with dried apricot as a dessert on the afterparty. Very yummy palate spectre...
8,6:The finish is long, woody, dry, roasted, vegetal with confectionery, fermented tropical fruits, dried fruits, tea, a bit warm with spicy ginger.

Tento 12letý rum ze South Pacific Distillery vydal The Nectar v rámci svého 15. letého výročí.

Aroma: Zasmrádlé - domácí pálenka, shnilé tropické ovoce, tinkturová svěžest, tóny opáleného dřeva, čokolády, pepře a bbq omáčky.
Chuť: Domácí pálenka, štiplavá pepřovitost, hořká čokoláda. Po chvíli začne pálit, ale ne nijak intenzivně.
Dozvuk: Opět pálenka, pepř, velmi hořká čokoláda s chilli a vydatnou porcí hořkého dřeva, které se prolíná s nějakým ovocem. Extrémně dlouhý.

Ochutnán vzorek
I když se na první napití nezdál, tento rum z Fidži je velmi komplexní a chutný. Kdyby měl více let v tropech (díky vybledlé barvě a zasmrádlosti je určitě z většiny staření kontinentální), byla by to ještě o dost větší pecka.

Big esters, waxy, heavy, complex and quite "unusual". When you approach your nose you immediatly know where it comes from. As usual with Fiji rums it is not so far from Jamaican style, but still different. Alcohol integration is quite good but at this high ABV some drops of water helps to reveal all the subtle aromas and calms down the burn. To be honnest I would give this particular one a 9 if I hadn't tasted even better fijian from this year 2009. But still an excellent and typical bottling.

Caution : these rums are not for everyone taste... check a sample before buying a bottle.
