This is the first rum whereby the word "dunder" actually appeared on the label. This got my curiosity up when I saw it on a website for a liquor store 50 miles away. I went in there to get two more bottles of Scarlet Ibis and another bottle of Clairin Le Rocher. A rum specialist had to be called out from the back to find the only bottle of this one left. That should have told me something. But I had researched it before and it is the same folks who produce Clairin Sajous by Luca Gargano.
Upon opening it and pouring a little into a Glencairn glass, the aroma is only of alcohol. This one is at 112 proof. It tastes like nothing, with only a slight burn. The finish is where the hogo funk from the dunder rears it's ugly head. Since I am on my last day of antibiotics, I had to spit it out. Damn, that made the finish even stronger! I basically bought myself an expensive $40 mixer for rum punch. Or it can be used as weed killer.
After note a few days later: Though I hate to admit it, the only acceptable mixer for this crap is water to keep this expensive bottle from going down the toilet. I made the mistake of mixing it with strawberry lemonade and it ruined an otherwise tasty mixer. At that point, I almost lowered my rating to 1 at the bottom of all of my rankings. So I gave it another chance with just water as the only acceptable mixer and my money was not totally wasted. This is still slightly better than Wray And Nephew Overproof.
This is quite delicate in character. At full strength there is no vesoute quality, just a mild fruity alcohol aroma. A few drops of water brings out a sweet, fruity floral aroma, which is lovely and refined but not really characteristic of raw cane-juice rum (since this is made with syrup and dunder, that probably explains it). The mouthfeel and taste show similar refinement, though there is a bit of ethyl-acetate solvent quality - you really want to give it a splash of water.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Crystal clear in the glass.
Bold and fruity on the nose. Various types of freshly mown grass and green, unripe fruit form the basis of this venture. Fine citrus notes and tropical flowers lure you to a secret place.
Challenging and germicidal on the palate. The grassy aromas bind a daring bouquet of flowers around the tongue. Tart wild spices and things that have never touched the buds of taste expand the world of experience.
The finish is daring and strange. Grass and flowers leave the tongue together, the "things" linger a little longer.
A great Haitian, not as extreme as the Clairin from Velier but quite ok. For explorers, the brave and connoisseurs. -8
