There is a lot going on here and it works in all of the right ways. It’s complex but balanced. Sweet but also dry. Funky but smooth. Wood and tobacco offset by banana and other tropical fruits. Truly complex and enjoyable time and time again.
Tasted the older and newer versions of Appleton 21 yr and could not detect any difference between the two. So my narrative for this one is pretty well the same as the older version.
Just had a glass of Appleton 21 yr rum and it is indeed really good. In comparaison to the 12 & 15 year versions I find it more complex and smoother. The difference, however, is not as much as I had expected. Is it worth the difference in the price? I don’t mind to pay a higher price for the 21 as it is a treat for me but don’t know if I would if this was my go to rum. Excellent bu5 pricey.
Very smooth. Strong notes of caramel, tobacco. Really enjoyed it.
This is the best Appleton Ive ever had. Smells like maple syrup and the smell of a new pool inflatable out-of-the-box. The taste is a bit of the Jamaican vegetative funk, banana, apricot, vanilla, and pear. Not nearly as smooth as its non-Jamaican counterparts and not as oaky. Definitely a good rum but there are better out there for the price.
Very smooth, extremely nice to drink as a mixer, on ice, neat or in a cocktail. Slightly hard to get and also pricey, but that's to be expected when you get into aged rum
I bought a bottle of this on the way home from Jamaica and taste tested it against the Appleton Estate 21-year I already have in my collection. It was smoother and more flavourful. One of the best, if not the best rums I’ve had so far.
Love the curves on the bottle, so female. Heavy and stylish cork is a plus. The aroma is very Jamaican, funky and nice, but not too funky at all. Maybe the age has to do with the mellowness. The flavor is soft but still rich. No hints of ethanol here. No alcohol burn in the mouth but still the flavors are intense. I taste especially dark fruits. This is the best rum or even spirit I have ever tasted neat to date.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is the new version of the 21 year old rum from Appleton: it has a new bottle with a nice heavy copper top on the cork.
This is some good stuff. Excellent sipper, it's a very well balanced rum. Sweet but not too sweet, fruity, vanilla, moderate burn. One of my favs.
