Not bad at all. My sailing buddies and I use the Diplomatico Exclusiva as our sipper benchmark. The Diplomatico seems to have a spicier (as in cinnamon) finish and is a tad sweeter with perhaps a bit more depth. But this one is a smooth sipper with a hint of vanilla.
This rum was just OK. A bit of a sweet finish with vanilla being the overwhelming flavor. Some oak barrel bourbon taste, mild smooth sipper. I would probably buy again but not going to go out of my way to purchase.
Difficult for me to rate because the more I sip in my first glass the better it gets. By the middle of the glass I can smell and taste a hint of vanilla. In some of my first few sips, I detected a little bite. But that went away. A little warm in my chest. I definitely want another one when I finish a glass.
Both in the bottle and the spirit. Strong aromatics; but very smooth.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I fell for this one hook, line, and sinker because of the marketing. I was also running out of new rums to try several months ago. It comes from a few different islands in the Caribbean, which also appealed to me at first. It was not memorable at all and it's younger 5 Year Culverin was actually much better. Neither one are worth buying again.
