Nose: On the nose it is a subdued high ester hampden, not very intense. Should be a HLCF.
Lots of glue, sweet tropical fruits, including a lot of ripe pineapple. Slightly malty aroma and a slight barrel influence can be smelled (some wood chips).
Taste: Slightly sweet and balanced start with pineapple and glue (almost too little fruitiness). The sweetness decreases immediately, malt and maritime aromas (salty) are rising. The rum increases in spiciness, the bitterness (tannins) spreads a little too much for my taste.
The finish is spicy, malt, sunflower seeds, slight bitterness, oil. Cautious fruitiness in the background, that should be more present.
Aftertaste: pineapple, glue, wooden barrel, malt and slight bitterness
Conclusion: Little sweetness on the palate and only a subtle fruitiness make this Hampden a mediocre bottling. Too strong presence of bitter substances on the palate and too little intensity in the nose also cost more points.
