This Artesano with barrel no. 398-18 first matured for 9 years in an ex-Bourbon cask and then for another 2.5 years in a fresh Virgin American Oak Cask. Bottled at 58.1%.
Nice and intensive nose. I get Panama flovers with Bourbon influence. The Bourbon influence is strong. I get cocoa, fruits like melon, apricot jam, orange, vanilla, fresh white oak.
Not very complex but tasty nose.
The taste is quite intensive for a Panama rum. I get orange, immediately tannins, apricot jam. This is a nice and fruity start. Then orange zests, paper and again oak. At the end is also some cocoa. This rum is a little bit spicy. The finish is spicy again, I get some cocoa again, oak and orange.
This is the best Panama rum from Artesanal so far. I'm not a big lover of Panama rums but would rate that one with 84 points.
