Another experiment from Artesano.
This Artesano with barrel no. 454-19 first matured for 8 years in an ex-bourbon cask, before it matured for another 7 months in a fresh Virgin Oak Cask and then got its 10-month finish in a Tawny Port Cask.
Clearly Panama rum in the nose. I smell bourbon cask influence.
There are chocolate notes and vanilla. Also some wood with dry fruits. The port cask finish is very weak in the background. Some red fruits are there, but hard to catch and also some nuts.
Not very intensive and also not complex.
The initial taste is warm and a little bit viscous, I get sweet notes of a fruit like prune, then vanillla and strong bourbon influence. There is also some wood, dry red fruits and paper.
White fruits are in the middle, melon, dragon fruit with vanilla. Then I notice a strong bourbon influence.
The finish is spicy, I get all kinds of white fruits like prune, melon, vanilla and dry red fruits at the end.
It's not bad, the cask strength of 58.8% is nice. I'm not a big fan of Panama rum but would recommend it for Panama lovers. I would rate it with 83 points.

Honey yellow in the glass.
Subtle and balanced on the nose. Candied fruit, vanilla, caramel and some cocoa are contrasted with wood, resin, tannins and an oven fired with old tarred railroad sleepers. Over it all hovers some sweetish perfume.
Mild and "sweet" on the palate. Dark fruits dipped in caramel and dusted with cocoa powder. Toasted wood stays discreetly in the background.
Fruit and caramel linger on the finish, leaving a subtle "sweetness" and a hint of chocolate.
Same barrel 454-19 as described by vomi1011 but in the 41.5% Vol. bottling (358 bottles).
Great rum without big claims, but with its own charm. For beginners, connoisseurs and well-traveled. 7+
