2 oz sample of Black Tot 50th Anniversary rum is all it took to convince me that I need to find 2-3 bottles of this beautiful rum. Unlike many of you I cannot describe all of the components that I am tasting BUT I can vouch that this blend is right up my alley. At 54.9% ABV this rum is an easy and so flavourful drink, that rivals with the best rums I have tasted. The aroma is wonderful and so is the lingering taste in my mouth. Absolutely a β10β for me.
Epic rum.. From the nose to after taste it's a delicious journey to flavor.. Worth every penny!!!!!!!!
There is many already written here in other reviews about the brand or particularly this Anniversary release here. What I really like is the transparency about the blend, no additives or sugar added. And the blend is really master one. I can find lot of fruits on nose as well on taste, chocolate, black tea, coconut and vanilla tones. Just a tones, nothing overhelming to push out the complexity. Sweetness is again just a tone, it exists mostly in after taste. Otherwise it is more dry type (real) rum. The alcohol volume is right where you expect to be. I really love this setup. What a master peace to blend it in this way.
In conclusion it is very strong and close to perfection (9.5) therefore I update my rating after couple of tastings compared to others.
I have to get couple of bottles into my collection as this is limited release of 5000 bottles and in our country it already starts to be gone. Go for it until you can.
I'm looking fwd try the successor from 2021 Black Tot Master Blenders Reserve. According the producer "We took some of last yearβs Black Tot 50th Anniversary Rum blend as our base, re-casking it into ex-sherry butts and barrels, to which we added layers of fruit-driven flavours using different styles of rum". And I believe it will also not bad. Once bottle will arrive, I will share my findings more in details as there is no much info about it yet.
In the end, cheers in new 2022!
Great on the nose! Taste is also unique and you won't notice the power
This is a Navy rum a class above all Iβve tried
A punch in the mouth at the front end and lovely dark rum middle with a smooth and lingering finish
If all Navy runs could be like this
lovely liquid in the bottle ππππ
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

What a powerhouse.
Dark golden colour, Dark chocolate, baking spice, leather, wood oils, treacle all in the nose. On the palate there's pepper, chocolate, a slight burnt treacle flavour as well, vanilla and cigar tobacco also feature pleasantly.
If you can find a bottle, get it, it's a delight.
