William Hinton Four Cask Edition
Score: 4
duft: overmoden frugt og peber.
Smag: starter sød hurtigt tager tobak, peber og fad over, eftersmag sur og fermenteret.
I really dont like agricole rums so my expectation was low. So I was slightly supprised that taste is not so bad. On the nose you can smell typical agricole with young wood. But taste is little bit different. You can feel it was aged in four different casks. If you like agricole rums add 1-2 points.

Dark amber in the glass.
Very spicy and tart on the nose. Licorice sticks larded with cloves in a glass of cider. Cinnamon sticks in sugar cane juice with a little honey.
Mouth-filling and exciting on the palate. Vanilla with chili, caramel with pastry, apples with honey, wood with spices.
A bit rough and resinous on the finish, yet long and interesting.
A very special rum with its own history. For explorers and connoisseurs. 7+

I tasted this rum as sample from 24 Days of Rum calendar. And even on web page of Hinton is not possible to find more details 🙁
Aroma is nice with sugar cane and some tones of wine (maybe Porto). First taste is sweet with hint of cognac. After comes a bit harsh part where taste become more dry and woody, oak taste dominates. Aftertaste is longer than expexted but still average with some herbal tones on palate.
Would be interesting to know the four casks used for this blend. Longer aging (this should be 4y old rum) maybe could help to have more complex taste with more tones.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Like others I had a sample from Rum calendar. From flavour to the end, this is a strong with very long warm alcohol.
