Only marketing or something special? When I saw this rum first time, I immediately had to buy it. Being an ocean fan I was curious how the sea water influences an aged agricole. And indeed, there seems to be ocean in the bottle. Not salty but still like sitting at the shore. The agricole has still some fresh cane flavor. In total a very interesting creation.
This agricole rum is from Martinique.
The level of alcohol is reduce with sea water. (Without salt)
Perfect for mixing and also a strong sipper.
This rum is aged for 3 years before being reduce.
It’s also a really strong rum, dry and harsh.
Not for beginner.
54%abv
Aged mainly in ex american bourbon oak casks (nas)
Watered down with seawater from the caribbean sea.
Nose: light brine, sea, damp oak, heat, pepper
Palate: Brine, some seawater, seaweed, damp oak, pepper and some tannic aromas, minerality, lot of back palate complexity, also dried fruit, nice grassiness in the end and also some corn. Quite hot and peppery when drank undiluted, overall quite dry rum.
For vieux likers, probably a decent one, the seawater aromas come together in a balanced way with the rum.
Decently made, personally not my taste.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Usually think aged Agricole are overoaked, but this retains nice cane flavor.
