Like this one. Its kind of my style, could be more bold.
Great choice if you are new in rum world! Sweet and drinkable...
Dárek k Vánocům. Sladší, dobrý. Druhy v kabinetu z Don Papa.
Filipino 40% "rum" made from molasses and aged for 3-5 years in oak bourbon barrels. The style of the classic Don Papa does not deny the Baroko too.
Bottle: Round, closed with wooden cap with real cork.
Colour: Amber.
Nose: Vanilla (more like vanillin), vanilla cookies, tangerines, sweet jelly candy, marshmallow, tutti frutti toothpaste, alcohol).
Taste: Surprisingly alcoholic and sharp at first. Then it mellows out, but not by much. Very sweet flavour profile with vanilla, honey, tutti frutti toothpaste, sweet mandarin and alcohol.
Aftertaste: Medium-long.
Finish: Very similar in profile to the classic Don Papa 7 YO rum, only much sweeter but also sharper. Lovers of sweet rums will be satisfied, I'm not so much. Not a total flop, though.
Rating: 5.5/10
Extremely sweet but very flavourful, interesting taste but has a lot of flavours going on. A bit pricey for what it is in my opinion.
el papi baroko is sweet and tasty softy version of the regular one
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Lately I've started to enjoy sweeter rums as well but still Don Papa is not something that I particularly enjoy. The taste is just somewhat artificial and too sweet. The main taste note is green apple and it is followed by vanilla and orange just like other Don Papas. There are also notes of black licorice, which makes the rum more interesting. Overall not too complex taste but that makes it more approachable to those that are new to rum.
