Crazy high Ester but shockingly smooth and drinkable (relatively). Super heavy on the fruit with a touch of hampden rubber to balance it out. Excellent.
A huge potstill rum, surprisingly smooth at 64.1%, with a very long and briny finish.
I have not had a wide experience with high ester rums, but this rum really blew my socks off (and more to my palate then the 2005 Long Pond). Perhaps I just love the Hampden profile? I guess I will have to try more from this mad-scientist of a distillery to know for sure, as this was both challenging, complex and incredibly enjoyable. Note I'm only getting a shot at a sample (not a bottle), although I would absolutely love to have a bottle of this.
On the nose there is rotting banana & strawberry, raspberry, burnt rubber, and chemical notes - welcome to funky-town! This rum fills the room. Nosing some more reveals pineapple, mango, salt and red wine.
The palate is bitter, honey, oak, more bitter, dry... but once the palate acclimates to it, there is grilled pineapple and more sweet honey.
The finish is strawberry, dry oak, hot peppers, oily, burnt coffee and mangoes.
My wife gave it a shot and called this one "burnt plastic dipped in honey". I think it's fantastic.
I added some water, but I think it presents best at cask strength.
Eine echte High Ester Bombe.
Absolut fruchtig im Mund, mit extra langem Nachklang.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I'm very excited about this one.
It's more on the fruity or should I say on the pineapple side compared to Velier LFCH. No need to dilute it, even above 60% it's still enjoyable (if you are used to high abv).
This is the most intensive and most tropical rum. It's whole Jamaica in your glas, tropical fruits, the sea, the sun, the sweetness.
The finish is the best part, mango lasts very long.
Mark should be C<>H 1300-1400 esters - Continental Flavoured
It's quite agressive and unbalanced on the fruity side. It lacks older flavors from the cask and the malt. A rating of 88 is appropriate.
