A slight upgrade from the MG black barrel. Almost no harshness, and finishes like honey. Amazing for sipping
I am a big fan of Mount Gay Rums. They are authentic without sugar added with world-class maturation. For this XO Triple Cask, we seek about a maturation in 3 different casks (whisky, bourbon and cognac), each of the step enriching this amazing blend pot and column still.
From the Mount Gay Family, this is to me by far the best price-pleasure ratio!
Aroma - honey, vanilla, caramel and oak.
Taste - vanilla, honey and oak, nicely complex.
Aftertaste is longer with peach and spices.
The old XO was maybe too much dry and woody for some people - this new version is a bit more complex and taste profile more likable on first try.
This stuff is effin yummy. Not too hard to find. Very palatable. Subtle sherry notes? Brown sugar too? But still dry. Drink her straight. You won’t be disappointed.
This is a great rum. Natural flavours of oak, spices and vanilla. More of a dry rum, but also sweet in a natural way.
I just don't understand all the high ratings for this overpriced industrial rum. OK, it has a few flavor notes but it's so harsh in the back of the throat which spells "industrial" that those flavor notes disappear in a split second. "It's at least 15yrs old!", boy you guys are as blind as a Bacardi bat. I give this no more than 5yrs old, maybe an ounce of aged rum in every bottle at tops! Talk about price, this rum lost 3 points due to its outrageous $70 price. Typical for those big industrial rum distillers. You can find rum at half this price that just blows this away! Granted they may come out with a few outstanding releases but the price they charge is just so profound, over $250 for those so called special releases. They believe that they have the world convinced that they are the best, just like Appleton & Bacardi. Steer a wide berth unless you have very deep pockets! I am so so disappointed and it all stems from all those highly rated reviews that are right here! Figured with these ratings it's a must try. You guys better get off that industrial trail and seek out those small guys that put it all in and create a beautiful product which these conglomerates never care to take. They're all about $$$$ and could care less about creating a wonderful experience, unless it's their pocket full of $$$$ experience. No more Mount Gay, Appleton or Bacardi for this pirate no matter what reviews they get! ☠
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

En lättdrucken inte alltför söt rom med lite kryddig smak. God att sippa på, lite spritig.
