Looking forward to trying this one, but felt a bit underwhelming. Might just be that I am not picking up all the flavours due to covid...
It is however a very nicely balanced rum. Fruity and leatbery nose, notes of candy and sherry with some prickly spice and coffee.
I'm not into dry rums, I've read a lot about it and considered it for a long time, in the end I risked it. If I already have some rum in me, I like it, but otherwise it's really dry and I don't enjoy it like other goodies. They are also harder to find. But it's gentle, even slightly sweet, maybe I'll get to these rums in time.
Sweet and smooth, exactly what you’d be looking for in a easy sipping rum. Not too complex, very pleasant.
Incredibly smooth with great undertones of demerara. Admittedly, it's been months since I last had a bottle of this, but I can't stop thinking about it. It's great quality for the price (~£50) and readily available online. Certainly, one for a connoisseur to sip.

Tasting
Need to re test to affirm flavours
Just couple of bottles appeared in our local store and I'm happy grabbed one of them.
I liked old XO a lot and this one is on par or, thanks to the cognac cask, a bit better.
Don't drink it straight from the bottle, let it breath for a good while.
Delicious, oily, smooth and perfectly balanced. Classic Barbados style along with, I guess, French elegancy. Chocolate notes as the bonus to fruits, vanilla.
Viva Mount Gay!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

trying it now along with the old version xo reserve cask, the old one just a decilter
left in the bottle, both rums sat in the glass half hour,
the old version in the nose less alcohol burn (almost empty bottle, opened around
9 months ago, so a little bit oxidized ?),
but in the mouth triple cask is better than the older one, less spices, more fruits, vanilla,
a lot of apricot, in the old version some little bitterness, here disappeared,
same abv of 43 %, if the old i gave 8, this one is around 9,5 for me !
just this is a little bit more expensive that the older one ...its the most fruity rum i ve tried so far, no additives, sorry if some people dont recognize the quality...
but ok blend of 5 to 17 old rum aged in ex American whiskey, ex bourbon and
ex cognac barrels, if we take quality/price, my rating will be a 10 !
their master select cost almost 3 times more, is it better ? yes but not 3 times better ...
just a little bit !
