Down to earth but good rum
Subtle aroma of vanilla and a little wood
Smooth full texture with chocolate notes and a medium finish with a little spice
The 21 year old Zafra is a very smooth rum without tasting too sweet or unnatural.
Great aged rum to sip, dry tobacco, smoke and bourbon notes.
Aroma is nice with wood and raisin. Taste is well ballanced - warm, bit sweet, complex with wood, raisin, forest fruit and honey. Aftertaste is pleasant, mainly wood and molasse. In direct comparison with Zafra 30y is a bit less smooth and complex, but for less than half price of 30y it's perfect value.
This is what a great aged run should taste like; beautiful on the nose, subtle well balanced yet intense in flavor without being overly sweet. A great bottle for those who appreciate aged rum. My go to for special occasions. This gets a 9.1
This rum Iโve gone back on forth on. I was very excited to try it and was a little disappointed with my first sip as it was much harsher than I anticipated for a rum at the price point and aging. That being said, once the bottle opened up a bit I found this to be quite great with an ice cube (I prefer rum neat however). A solid rum but for the price itโs not my favorite.
Very good Rum, highly recommend it, one of the best rums for $50
I explain this rum to my buddies as a scot went to Panama and perfected rum. The Nose begins with honey, raspberry and brandied cherry. Small notes of lemon tart later on. The middle palate is Very creamy. Soft caramel and milky coffee leading into brown sugar and orange peels. Some spicy black liquorice notes.
She finishes with waxy peels, cardamom and brandied cherries again. One of my all time favorite rums ever made!!!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Sweet nose, of molasses. Easy supper but no flavor on taste stands out for such an old rum. Almost watered down. Nice beginning but fades too fast.
