What is it?
Flor de Cana Volcanic Bourbon Cask
Does anybody know details about this rum? They sell it in Airport Duty Frees. It comes in a fancy box and its label differs from the other products of the brand: no age on it. So, is it the 12YO or one of the others?
I thinkt it's a blend of rums from 4y to 25y. This rum was aged in charred bourbon barrels, matured in tropical Nicaragua at the foot of the volcano San Cristóbal (maybe all rums are stored there and this is nothing special). It is not possible to specify how old it is, therefore there is no age on it. Without tasting it, it's difficult to say, but I think it should be around 12 years old.
A blend of different ages - you might be right. I agree that the volcano story is probably just marketing and applies also to all other products of the brand. I haven't got the time to taste and write a review yet, but will hopefully soon do so.
Never had a Flor de Cana I thought was great. The 25 year huge expensive mistake. I stop at 12 year.
