Hello there! Recently started working at the airport , duty free store and got interested into spirits, more likely rum. The thing is that we have so many that I don’t know what to get. I would like your recommendations for a nice sipper. Not that expensive.

The rums I’ve tried :

Plantation XO : Nice one but a bit sweet for my taste

Single cane estate : it’s ok, not that sweet but not something to make me want it.

Bumbu the original : crazy sweet, no

Barcelo imperial :  too harsh but with some ice it’s a nice one also

Ron la progressiva de Vigia: the best I’ve tried till now. Kinda loved it. Price is a bit much for an everyday sipper tho :(

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Nice sippers and not that expensive?

1 Doorly's XO

2 Chairman's Reserve Forgotten Casks

3 Lots of people say the Appleton low-mid tier offerings are both nice quality and cheap, but i haven't tried any, especially not the rebranded ones

La Hechicera Extra Anejo is not too sweet (no suggar added, they say). But still smoother than Barcelo imperial. You might like it.

checked what heinemann offers and i see some decent offers and not too expensive ...

flor de cana 18

havana club seleccion de maestros

santa teresa 1796

dictador 20

mount gay XO (best of that list for me)

dictador 12

la hechicera

black tot finest caribbean (if you want to discover jamaican style)

those are all free of additives and less than 100 euro per bottle, if you like sweetened products than go for various bacardi, plantation, zacapa etc ...

ron la progresiva de vigia is unknown to me ...

and i saw an interesting plantation jamaica single cask 1996 without dosage (no additives) but it s 190 euro ...

also don t be hasty, some of those rum probably you can find in supermarkets (kaufland for example) and maybe cheaper
