National Rum Day!
What's everyone having to celebrate National Rum Day?! I had oral surgery today and can't partake so tell/show me what you're having!
Black Tot Master Reserva 2023. Bottle wasn't available at the Black Tot Day. So I guess it was the second best day to drink this one. π
Nice!!
To my shame, I must confess, I have completely forgotten! Unfortunately, it's also one of my booze free days. ;-)
Make today not a booze free day! Ha! I still have to wait another day or two before I can have alcohol. C'mon tomorrow!
Had a friend deliver this to me last weekend direct from the distillery in Rhode Island.Β
Solid gift. How are they?
The single barrel aged for 5yrs is good but it seems to need more time to age. While drinking this my first opinion was that this rum is going to just keep getting better! This is noticeable in the reserve. I believe this is aged 7 years. This one's my favorite. It's just spot on. You can tell these guys know what they're doing and expect their lineup to just get better as time goes. I'm not a fan of port finish but for those who like that type it, again, is well above average. Their main gig is a brewery which is why I stopped there while in Newport. I seen the rum and instantly grabbed the single barrel. It was about $35 and stands up well in that price range. The reserve was $70 and although for that price range you can get better this one pleased me so much we couldn't stop drinking it. Very drinkable. The port was $50 and also worthy. I would put that up against papa pilar sherry finish any day. All the rum has no added sugar which is the way I like rum. It's suppose to be at total wine but here in NY I have yet to see it. So, whenever my buddy from RI comes to town he brings me a fresh batch. My go to lately has been ED 12 or 15 and that's because its readily available at that price range and I do like it so I find myself constantly going back to it. Thomas Tew is definitely one of my favorites after doing over 100 different rums! You will not be disappointed!
I had Valinch & Mallet Diamond 17 yr rum, one of my favourite rums
Never had that one before but just looked it up and it sounds really good.Β
The Valinch & Mallet line is for the most part high quality rum. The Caroni 24 yr, New Yarmouth 26 & also 27 yr Clarendon 26 yr and this Diamond 17 yr are my favourites. Those are from small batches (225-250 bottles) and worth their prices $200-$535 CDA
