agricole style
I had a bottle of saint James xo and really liked it .so just looking for advice on what rums to get next argicole style
Most recommend Rhum J M XO as one of the greatest agricole rhums around, with Fatrumpirate giving it a 5/5. Here, Stephan Persson recommends Clement XO, the old discontinued version which is almost impossible to find today and pretty expensive, as the best agricole he ever tasted. Rhum J M cuvee du Fondateur, is among the most highly reviewed items in the site, but is a limited release and probably a collector's item, by now. Cognac cask finish Rhum J M is highly reviewed, together with the newly released Clement 15 years. For a reason, agricoles are harder to find, than molasses rum. They are unique and different, they have to grow on you or something. Saint James 15 years is also said to be a great treat. And saint lucia 1931 contains a small part of agricole, in that magnificent blend. There are also Haitian clairin (uniquely crafted, slightly different agricoles) like Barbancourt 15 and Boukman Botanical.
Why not try Boukman too? It is the next Rhum i am ordering, since i asked for advise, opinions and stuff. Is infused with roots/herbs/spices, plus is 45%, so i gather it is going to be very special!
ok thanks for the information will try boukman and definitely jm xo 1st I didn't know about the 1931 but the saint Lucia rums I absolutely love
Les,
As Leo writes is the J.M XO a great introduction to aged Agricole's, probably the best in my opinion and to a fair price. Another one that can compete with it, is the La Mauny XO.
Then you have the Guadeloupian Agricole's that's more fruity and also a little sweeter. My favorites among them is ReimonenQ and Montebello. If you want to try them, start with one that's at least 6yo.
Read my reviews for more info.
Good Luck!
thanks add to my list will buy it
What about J.Bally? One of my favorite Martinique rhums without doubt! And, their 1929 rhum is one of the most expensive rums up for auction going for 4k +. Obviously they know what they're doing!
Kevin,
I'm sure there's lots of J. Bally's that's extremely good, but I've just tasted their 12 yo Pyramid and their Ambre and didn't like any of them.
Just rated them 6 respectively 5.
I will look
