Best Agricole rum to start with?
I've never tried an agricole rum and am wondering where to start. Any suggestions?
cheers
HSE VSOP (hse = habitation st etienne, martinique) is the best if you look price/quality, clement XO (the VSOP is too thin), some JM 10 years (very dry rums, the 10 year old they make every year another edition, last one i tried the 2011), all those rums i think are available in UK, but i m sure guadeloupe or reunion agricoles are also very good quality, those are sippers, not to waste them in cocktails ... as for white ones (ti punch and other cocktails) the recognized best white is from Neisson, i m sure Stefan will give you more advices
Hello JRoberts95 ,
Please excuse me, but I think Rhum Agricole will have a hard stand with you, in view of your cabinet, there is a Diplomatico in the first row and a Flor de Cana with a 6.
Imagine something completely different with an Agricole. They are fresher and grassier in aromas, bone dry and unsweetened (the opposite of a Diplomatico).
Nevertheless, be sure to try ! The tips from bar la moura are worth their weight in gold, I would just add a JM XO and a Dillon XO 12yo. For Ti'Punch is also the HSE 50°super, for Ti'Punch vieux I recommend a Rhum JM Gold Eleve Sous Bois 1-Year 50°, and yes Stefan will give you more tips :-)
Cheers !
JRoberts95,
You've got some good suggestions above.
My suggestions when talking about Martinique is as Rene suggested the Rhum J.M XO but also the Rhum La Mauny XO.
About rum from Guadeloupe I suggest anything that's at least 6yo. My personal favorites is Rhum ReimonenQ and Rhum Montebello.
Thanks all for taking the time to provide suggestions! Looking forward to trying one in the near future, cheers
