Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Rums over $100 you would buy again.
There are certain rums in the $100+ range I would purchase again. There are many other ones I would never purchase again. Here are a few I have purchased more than once in the $100+ range.
Zafra 30, which is actually a Don Pancho rum
Pussers 50th anniversary secondary market
Several Foursquare vintages but there not around too long
Facundo Exquisito which is actually a Bacardi rum
Appleton 21 this is a very good rum
Eldorado 21, this is a maybe
Ron Centenario 30 good but a bit sweet
Diplomatico single cask 2004-2005
Zacapz XO too sweet but enjoyed it with my son and cigar on his 21st birthday
Rums never again
Ron Palazzi port
Diplimatico Ambasador
Abuelo Centenario (maybe but lots better for less)
Any Caroni (burnt tires and cigarette butts)
On the picture are examples of my favorite rums. After trying a bottle I bought the second one to my cabinet.
Here is my $100 list, with no in-betweens.
The very good ones!
Flor de Cana 25 Year
Rhum J M 2008 10 Year
Chairman's Reserve 1931
Mount Gay 1703 Master Select
Appleton 21
Foursquare ECS 2005 Shibboleth 16 Year
Foursquare ECS 2006 Redoutable 14 Year
Rums that I will never buy again:
Caroni 2000 110 Proof 17 Year
El Dorado 15 Year Madeira Sweet Cask Finish
El Dorado 21
Diplomatico Ambassador
Foursquare ECS 2009 12 Year
The $100+ I would and have bought again.
Foursquare Redoutable
Foursquare Empery
Hampden Great House
For those I would never buy again, there are a number of them. However, most of them are not because I disliked them, but because I did not care for them enough to spend that kind of money on them again.
Unlike some here, I would definitely buy Caroni Rum again (because I really like them), but not at these whacky prices anymore.
Otherwise, would buy again at any time:
- Chairman's Master's Selection 2006
- Habitation Velier 2007 Worthy Park 10-Year or 2013 Foursquare 2-Year
- Dictador XO
Or other tasty bottles from independent bottlers
I wouldn't do this money for high priced soleras like Zacapa XO, Millonario XO etc. anymore. Not because they are bad but because they no longer satisfy my tastes.
Part of what I really enjoy about rum is trying all of the variations out there, so I tend to NOT purchase anther bottle of something I have enjoyed - I buy something different, or the next iteration. But, bottles I have liked enough to buy again:
Holmes Cay Belize, Fiji, Jamaica
Hampden Great House 2020
Foursquare Redoubtable
Black Tot 50th Anniversary
Velier Tiger Shark
NRJ Cambridge Long Pond STCE
There are several rhums over 100$ I will buy again and again :
- La favorite La flibuste, any years (to my personal opinion, the best Rhum I know)
- Diplomatico 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 ...
- Centenario Real, Selected cask reserve
- Optimus 25 years, Porto cask finish
And some more, but those ones without any doubts.
