Collecting bottles

I'm starting my own little collection of rums. I already spent more than I told my wife (obviously) and i got 2 numbered bottles.

I never stored anything in my life for the sake of collecting so now I'm wondering what you guys think about collecting rums: should I just buy and drink or should I buy some and store, without opening them because they are too valuable?

I'm on the side of rum is for drinking and cigars are for smoking, but sure i would wait for some speciall celebration to open some good bottle.

I guess I agree with u. I'm not gonna drink casually a collectible bottle but I think it's a waste only to store them

Well, you could do both, drink&collect.

I usually buy 2 same bottles, one for drinking, one for collection.

🙂😉

If you don't plan to drink it, I see no reason to buy it.

For 151 dark rum I had Gosling's which is easy for me to pick up where I live and isn't expensive.  It's dark but not true demerara.

So I had Lemon Hart 151 shipped to me this weekend.  How is it?  Delicious.  Surprisingly amazing for high proof.

Then I made a cocktail that calls for it.   The drink uses it for a quarter of the amount of rum with lots of juices and mixers and it's completely lost.

I'm shelving it.  If I make a 151 Sizzle or similar, then I will break it out.  Otherwise, I'm going back to Goslings which costs me less than half when it's diverse cocktail.
